Connecting Xbox 360 to Windows Vista PC:

Check if you have a media sharing software installed first. Then follow the steps in this article which will help you connect your Xbox 360 console to your PC running Windows Vista.

For connecting your PC running Windows vista to your Xbox 360 console, you must have media sharing software installed. Currently available media sharing software are as follows. Click to get the steps on how to download and configure each media sharing software:
  1. Windows Media Player 11
  2. Zune
You can use any one of the above to set a connection between your PC and Xbox 360.

Steps to configure Windows Media Player 11:

1. You need to download Windows Media Player 11 to go further. You can download it from here.

2. Launch Windows Media Player:
  • On your Windows Vista PC, launch Windows Media Player.
  • Click Start -> Windows Media Player.


3. Turn on the Media Sharing:
  • Click the arrow below the Library tab, click Media Sharing.

  • In the Media Sharing dialog box, check the Share my media to box.

  • In the list of devices below the Share my media to check box, select your Xbox 360.
  • click Allow
  • click OK
4. Configure the Xbox 360:
  • Go to the Media section, select Music -> Picture or Photos.
  • Select Computer, press the A button.
  • Select YES, Continue, press the A button.
  • Select your PC, press the A button.
  • Press B button repeatedly until you return to the System section.

Steps for Configuring Zune:


1. You need to download Zune to go further. You can
download it from here.

  • Run the Zune software setup on your PC
  • During Zune setup, you will be prompted to share music, video and pictures on your Xbox. Select what you need appropriately.


2. Turn on the Media Sharing:

  • In the Zune software, click Options -> Library -> Media Sharing.
  • If you didn't share the media during setup process, select Share my media.
  • Set your media sharing options, then click OK.
  • Click Allow.
  • Click OK.

3. Configure the Xbox 360:
  • Go to the Media section, select Music -> Picture or Photos.
  • Select Computer, press the A button.
  • Select YES, Continue, press the A button.
  • Select your PC, press the A button.
  • Press B button repeatedly until you return to the System section.
